New Baby Girl

...no, not for the Forces. Wouldn't that just rock our world?! No, some friends back in Texas had a sweet baby girl last month and I wanted to send my congrats.

I like making anything pink since I don't get to do it too often. This little bear comes from Every Little Bit, and I watercolored her with my ever-favorite Watercolor Wonder Crayons.

I love using the textured cardstock for embellishments like this - they add that little extra touch that just makes it pop. I also "antiqued" the scalloped circle a bit by sponging the edges.

Have a great week!

Baby Congrats

I just found out that a friend is pregnant and wanted to send her a little card. I had to keep it gender neutral, of course, and this is what I came up with:

This sentiment comes from the new Say It with Scallops, which happens to be the set Stampin' Up! has chosen to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities. When you purchase this set, Stampin' Up! will donate $2 to RMHC. I embossed the sentiment with clear powder and then covered the star (which wasn't "baby" enough for me) with the beautiful flower brad! This was a quick and simple card, but cute enough to say, "Hey, I'm thinking about you!"

As an update for those who are interested, Hurricane Ike did not do much here in "my neck of the woods". We got drizzle all day Saturday and some stronger winds than normal, but nothing damaging. We had the sleepover for Mason as planned, and awoke to the most beautiful blue sky on Sunday with narry a cloud in sight! I know, however, that there are many, many people who cannot say the same, and my heart goes out to all those further south who did not fare as well as those of us up north. Pattie, you okay?

Card Recipe:
Stamp Set: Say It with Scallops
Ink: Lovely Lilac Craft
Cardstock: Lavender Lace, Lovely Lilac, Green Tea DSP, Certainly Celery textured
Accessories: Very Vanilla Taffeta, Flower Assortment Designer Brads
Tools: Scalloped Edge punch, Scalloped Square punch, 1/16" Circle punch, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

For Baby Thomas

Happy Friday, everyone! I happen to know that this card made it to its recipient, so it's safe to post now... it was for one of my newer customer friends who just had her first baby... and oh, is he ever adorable! Cute as a bug, I'd say!

So what better stamp set is there to use than Bugs & Kisses? The cute fuzzy caterpillar is stamped with the new Kiwi Kiss, and I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line him up just right. I'm also really using the new Scallop Edge punch quite a bit - so much easier than the old corner rounder method. The ribbons were attached by tying them around a small paper clip. And nothing finishes a cute card better than a matching envelope! A couple more bugs stamped on the envelope from the same set help to bring it all together and scream "HOMEMADE CARD" from the moment it's plucked from the mailbox!

Enjoy that baby, Hollye!

Card Recipe:
Stamp Set: Bugs & Kisses
Ink: Kiwi Kiss
Cardstock: Kiwi Kiss, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Whisper White
Accessories: Blue Gingham ribbon, Very Vanilla narrow grosgrain ribbon, small paper clip
Tools: Scallop Edge punch, 1/16" Circle punch, Stamp-a-ma-jig

Welcome Baby Paul!

Although I have been so grateful for all the cards I've been able to show you these last couple weeks, it's also nice to finally begin showing you my own work once again! I made this card a while back in anticipation of my friend Melanie's new baby. She had him on July 3rd, and with all that's been going on over here, I haven't had a chance to pop in and see them until today! But oh, what a cutie he is!!

I made this card using the Year After Year and Sweet Thing stamps sets - BOTH of which are retiring in a few short weeks! I also used the Classic Alphabet which has already retired. I watercolored the elephant with Watercolor Wonder Crayons, and roughed up the edges with the Cutter Kit.

Mel, he's simply adorable... enjoy every moment with him!

Recipe:
Stamp Sets: Year After Year, Sweet Thing, Classic Alphabet (retired), Warm Words
Ink: Bashful Blue, Old Olive, Black StazOn
Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue, Summer Picnic DSP, Naturals White, Watercolor Paper
Accessories: Linen Thread, Bashful Blue Taffeta Ribbon
Tools: Cutter Kit, Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Aquapainter, Word Window punch

A Week of Pun Fun - Day 6

We're on the home stretch now - almost done with my Week of Pun Fun! This little hippo card would make a great baby congratulations card, don't ya think? I'd use this one for a girl, but you could easily change out the pink for turquoise and you'd have a boy card.

The base color here is Lavender Lace, which I sponged and then wheeled with the Sweet Stars Jumbo wheel using Lavender Lace ink. Then there's a layer of Textured Certainly Celery, a swatch from Flowers for You DSP, and then some Regal Rose which I've faux stitched with a White Gel Pen. The hippo was stamped on some Whisper White cardstock using black StazOn ink and then I used that same new technique from yesterday, where I colored him a consistent shade of Lavender Lace using my Stampin' Pastels, and then gave him some dimension with a Blender Pen and the Lavender Lace ink pad lid. The cute bling-y (is that a word?) star is a piece of chipboard from On Board Accents which I coated with Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive and then sprinkled on some Orchid Stampin' Glitter from the Fine Cosmo set. It's fastened onto the Certainly Celery Wide grosgrain ribbon with some Linen Thread, but I didn't attach it to the card - it just dangles there! Doesn't it just sparkle?!

Okay, so I only have one more card to show you!! Catch ya tomorrow!

Welcome Little Caden!

Some of our dear friends just joined the "3 Boys Club" by having sweet little Caden this past weekend. I can't wait to get over there and snuggle him, so I had to hurry up and make his card! His mommy gushed at this "B" I made a while back, so I've been hanging on to it just for her.

For the card, I used Confetti White and Brocade Blue cardstock. The scallop was made with the Corner Rounder punch (guard removed) and then punched with the 1/16" circle to make it look like lace. The toy elephant is from the Year After Year stamp set - so cute! I stamped him with black StazOn and then watercolored him with my Watercolor Crayons. The name is stamped in Certainly Celery with the Classic Alphabet and then outlined in Brocade Blue with the square from Sweet Thing. The Word Window punch contains part of a phrase from Holidays & Wishes - the whole phrase reads "sweet little one", but I just inked up "sweet little". And yes, I cheated again... this card ALSO called for some soft ribbon, so I pulled out my Organdy again. I'm so sad that SU! retired it. I hope it comes back again someday. The Taffeta is beautiful too, but I needed the transparent look of the Organdy this time. I also tied a scrap of Certainly Celery Grosgrain on there too for a splash of color.

Okay - gotta run! There's a cute little baby who needs cuddling!!
