My Dilemma

I'm still here... I know it's been way too long since you've seen anything from me! The bad news is that I haven't made anything new except what I'm about to show you. The good news is that I (knock on wood) haven't gotten sick! All 4 of my men have had sickness in one form or another, but I have been spared. I think I like this Airborne stuff! ...either that, or the good Lord is letting all of my boys get well before I get stuck with it!

In any case, I have a dilemma that I need help with. I have shown you the Christmas card that I was going to make this year... here's a refresher photo:

Remember that the postcard slides out and I'd put our photo on the back of it. You can see a second photo at this post. Anyway, y'all loved it but thought I was out of my gourd when I said I needed to make 150 of them (I probably am). So I created this, much simpler, card instead:

Well, here's the dilemma... my husband really likes that first one. He says that all the guys we send it to will think it's really cool. So that makes me want to do that one after all! Heck, to be able to impress GUYS with a homemade card?? How tempting is that?!

There's a second dilemma as well... with that second card, my original intention was for it to be a postcard-type (totally inspired by the custom card I created for a friend) and not open. But that doesn't really leave room for me to put all of our names. Sure, I could do it on the back, but the brads show back there. I could make the brads pierce only through the white background, but then I'd have to use SNAIL to hold the whole thing closed. I could let it open, but it doesn't look very good because of the brads in there, either.

As you can tell, I'm torn. And I think my head is so overloaded that I can't make this simple decision. But I'm almost finished with the wedding ensemble (YIPPEE!), so I need to figure out what I'm going to do and get busy! Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

Maybe Michael and the boys could help you woth the first one since it's his fav. They could stamp and punch out the Dec. 25th part or cut paper while you stamp! Doesn't that sound like family night??

Why not make it a pocket card? Where the flap is in the front, you could put the picture in there are sign name on the back, just gluing it onto the CS instead of ussing brads to hold the picture down.

Do they all have to be the same? Can you do half and half? Just a thought.

I like both of the cards and the photo of your family is beautiful, but that isn't a very helpful answer to your dilemma. Good Luck!!

I agree with the first poster Janet, that would be fun for the whole family to get involved. At the very least they could do the punching and cutting ribbon for you. The first one is beautiful, but I can understand you wanting to do the second one because it is quicker. So my vote is #1 with the help of the boys!

I too agree with Janet. I think its a wonderful idea to make it a family affair. What's more Christmas than that! But I do like the second one too.

I really like the idea of having a photo card for a Christmas card. What about combining your first and second cards? You could use the 1st card as the main idea, and then adhere your family photo to the back of the postcard pull-out. That way, you can write a little note (or mass-print on the computer), and personalize it a bit with the picture. Just a thought! Good luck. :o)

I'd go with the family picture card. :)

I think the second one is beautiful, so I'd personally go with that one if I were you, in order to not lose my mind:) Of course, I have an almost 4 month old who doesn't like to be anywhere other than in my arms (which I totally love!), so I'm thinking as simple as possible for Christmas cards this year...perhaps my opinion is a little tainted by my own situation:)

I vote to make the first card a pocket card too. Also, since your husband expressed his opinion it might be nice to indulge him. I know it's more work for you, but... he sounds proud of you and that's awesome!!

I think you could make some of both. On the second card, I don't like brads to show on the back either. Maybe you can add a tag to the front with your names. But hey, YOU are the artist!

I like the postcard idea. If you print your family info on a piece of WW or VV cardsock you could use this on the back to cover the brad 'legs'. This would also leave room for a hand-written message from the boys...!
Let us know what you decide...

Hi Michelle!

Don't throw tomato's at me BUT I truely do LOVE the first one! Everything about it is just beautiful! Having said that - I realise how long they're gonna take you as well and that part does not appeal to me! lol!

I agree with the other ladies...if the boys are willing to help (and you don't mind them helping :) lol) then I'd go with the first one...it is gorgeous!

On the other hand, the 2nd card is great, too, and I'd go with the idea of adding a piece of cs to the back for your message (and to cover the brad backs.)

I love holiday cards that feature family pictures!
