Valentine Mailbox

Well, I thought I was so clever, but it turns out that these little mailboxes from Target's $1 spot are all over Splitcoast!! I don't know how I missed seeing them!! Anyway, here's my version:

I was striving for something soft and feminine... it was a perfect opportunity to pull out my Pretties Kit! Here are some closer looks at the mailbox:

I also used my new Eastern Elegance Rub-ons, which were a lot of fun! The Flowers for You DSP was not going to allow the Rub-ons to show, so I brought out some Vellum cardstock to tone it down. I used my Tearing Edge to give the vellum a softer edge.

The flowers from the Pretties Kit are super easy to tint... I just ran the brush tip of my Pretty in Pink and Almost Amethyst Stampin' Write markers over the petals from the center out. I didn't color the whole flower, just enough to give it a soft look. The pearl in the center is also from the Pretties Kit, and I just stuck them on with Glue Dots.

I used a lot of Sticky Strip on this project - it's the easiest way to adhere ribbon around the edge of something. In this case, I stuck Whisper White grosgrain around the lid. I also put some Pink Gingham just behind the lid, but that's secured with a couple glue dots on the bottom.

The flag was covered with Almost Amethyst cardstock that had been dolled up with a Rub-on and a flower... and, of course, more ribbon!

The notecards were the easiest part... I created these little 3"x3" gems (that fit perfectly in the box) after I did the mailbox, so I just copied the elements over. I enjoyed using the Rub-ons (did I already say that?!)... you may have noticed that not a single stamp pad or stamp was used on this entire project! It's nice to have options.

So, run to Target and pick up a few of these little guys and go nuts!!

You did a GREAT job on the mailbox, Michele! I had customers decorate these last year at a stamp camp for Valentine's Day. Already have my stock this year for the teachers' gifts at school. Sorry, but I won't get to see you at Debra's this month. Frisco ISD is out of school the same day she's having her meeting. Will you be at Sharon's deal? If so, see you then!
